Montrose Links is a final qualifying course for the 2007 British Open Championship to be held at nearby Carnoustie. It is also the 5th oldest golf course in the world.
That fact makes it very popular with golfers from all over the world.
Phones were ringing constantly. Staff were under severe pressure dealing with the workload of an organization who already catered for four different golf clubs who played over the course at different prescribed times.
The Project.
Identifying the need to increase revenues from green fees, the course management asked their Local Enterprise Company for assistance in formulating an Internet-based solution. The LEC appointed an E-Commerce advisor who prepared a detailed brief which, among other things, called for an Internet based Booking System and Competition Manager. Eight companies were asked to tender.
Netmedia’s Solution
Enter ManageGolf, a sister company to NetMedia.
ManageGolf had been set up to bring to the Golf marketplace a suite of ten software products. Just like everything else Netmedia builds, second best is not good enough. There has now been almost four years continual development making these products far and away the best of breed world wide.
Managegolf proposed solutions to several aspects of the Golf Course’s business.
Promotion : Visitors from around the world can find Montrose Links on the Internet.
Control of Content : With a TCS website fronting everything, the content of the site is easily controlled and can be changed when required.
On-Line Booking ; Both visitors and members of the club, can easily find available tee times and make bookings without having to phone staff at the golf course. As visitors book and make payments on line, for equipment as well as tee times, the club’s cash flow improves.
On-Line Competition management. Members of all the local clubs can see
"I am delighted with my website. The overall design of the site looks great and the fact that I have complete control over the content is a real bonus. I let my guests select the weeks they want and I arrange my holidays to take up the free weeks – it looks like I am hardly going to get there"
Promotion of these historic courses
ManageGolf is providing Montrose Links with a web presence of which they can be justly proud. All the content on each page can be managed by Montrose Links staff, making it easy for them to change wording and images and update news, links and results. Visitors will be able to find www.montroselinks.co.uk on all the major search engines, as well as on a number of affiliated online services.
Revenue Generation through online booking system
Importantly, both members of the Montrose Clubs and Visitors have the ability to both find and book available Tee times which are suitable for them. This vital component will significantly reduce the burden placed on Montrose Links administration, reduce cost of sales and increase throughput of visitors.
Ease of administration of bookings and competitions
Given the situation at Montrose, with both courses being shared between the various clubs in the area, administration of competitions has always been challenging. ManageGolf will take the weight of this administration, allowing staff to work more closely with the clubs, visitors and major event organisers (including the Royal and Ancient (R&A) who are responsible for the Open Championship 2007 at Carnoustie, for which Montrose Links are the final qualifying course).
